About Dede's Pottery, Etc.

Hi, I'm Dede. I first became interested in making pottery when I was a senior in college at Potsdam in New York and took a pottery class as an elective. I loved it, it was like playing in the mud, but you got to keep the item you made! I have been addicted to creating pottery since then. After college, I continued to take classes at Sienna College in New York, Skidmore College in New York, and at Highwater Clays in Asheville, North Carolina with a variety of successful artists. I have done several craft shows and I also had a shop in Beaumont, Texas when I lived there. I have always been able to sell my pieces to support my 'habit'. My studio is now in my garage and I love to get in there and work as much as I can. Making pottery by hand or on the potter's wheel both keeps me sane and makes me happy.
I enjoy making both functional and decorative pieces and, since my favorite colors are blue and green, I tend to use those most. I love the feel of a finished product and knowing that what I'm using to drink coffee or serve food in is handmade.
